WKU professor is now an entrepreneur on ‘Beta Blox’ reality show

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A former Western Kentucky University professor is now a successful entrepreneur and is featured on the reality T.V. Show “Beta Blox.”

Dr. Lauren McClain decided to leave her position at WKU to become her own boss. Her journey was not easy, but with her partner’s help and her family’s motivation, she decided to bet on herself by creating a business that amplifies other businesses and pushes them to do more good.

McClain tells us, this business not only helps other businesses and organizations, it also impacts the communities surrounding them.

She says, “I think being able to do this kind of work that has that immediate impact is just so meaningful to me, then my dad, my dad passed away 13 years ago, and he had always wanted to own his own business and never got the chance to, and so I also kind of feel like I’m living out a dream for him, too.”

She also shares that the major impact of the reality show is not just showing up in her business it also impacts her daily life.

She says, “I never in a million years expected to be on a reality TV show that was not on my bingo card, but You know, being a professor and teaching, I felt like that was how I change the world, you know? But I realize that there’s a lot of ways to change the world. There are a lot of ways to do more good. There’s a lot of ways to have an impact, so now I’m just doing it in a different way.”
