WKU Player of the Week: women’s basketball forward Zsofia Telegdy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week’s WKU Athletics Player of the Week is Lady Hilltopper basketball forward Zsofia Telegdy.

Telegdy was a big part of WKU’s 2-0 stretch on the road last week for the team’s first pair of away games in conference play.

The junior led the Lady Tops in scoring against Jacksonville State, posting 13 points, and then just two days later she secured her first career double-double at Kennesaw State with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Originally from Budapest, Hungary, this is Telegdy’s first season on the Hill.

She spent her first two collegiate years at Kansas where she appeared in 32 games for the Jayhawks before joining the Lady Tops in 2024.

Telegdy is currently the leading rebounder for WKU, averaging 5.4 boards per game, and after the Tops returned home from their road outing, head coach Greg Collins spoke on the growth he continues to see in the junior.

“Zoe went out there and really was focused on going and getting boards, and she had been focused on boxing out and keeping great rebounders off the boards, but I was trying to encourage her to go get the ball,” Collins said. “Go get the ball and there’s never a wrong time to go get the ball, so I was thrilled to death for her to have that game. I don’t think that’s her high bar. I think she’s got more in her.”
