WKU Player of the Week: track and field thrower Jayla Gilbert
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Today’s WKU Player of the Week is Hilltopper track and field thrower Jayla Gilbert.
The junior competed in the shot put at the Vanderbilt Invitational over the weekend and threw for a personal best of 14.77 meters.
That number was good enough for third place and it was even the best throw for a Hilltopper all season.
The mark is the best in Conference USA and ranks in the top 75 of all of NCAA D1 indoor track and field.
Gilbert and the Tops next compete at the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana, this weekend.
