WKU Player of the Week: soccer forward Makenna Egan

BOWLING GREEN, Ky – This week’s WKU Athletics Player of the Week is soccer forward Makenna Egan!
The award returns to the soccer pitch after two strong appearances in Conference USA action for the sophomore striker.
The Tops went 2-0 on the week with wins over Sam Houston and Missouri State and Egan had her hands – or should we say feet – all over both matches.
Against Sam Houston, she notched two goals in the first 15 minutes of play to set the tone in what would be a victory for Western, and against Missouri State, Egan kept the pressure on the Bears defense, helping the Tops breakthrough with an assist on the game-winning goal late in the match.
It was her first assist on the year and the brace on Thursday marked her second of 2026.
Head coach Jason Neidell spoke on the play of his star forward following the victory over the Bearkats.
“ She’s relentless. I mean, she’s been looking for a chance to score from 18 yards out. She got two of them tonight and she put them away,” Neidell said. “She’s a great player and we’re just lucky that she’s a Topper.”
