WKU Player of the Week: soccer defender Alaina Nugier

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After rounding out non-conference play with an unbeaten record, Hilltopper soccer reels in its fourth WKU Athletics Player of the Week honor!

Senior Alaina Nugier gets the spotlight after standing strong for the team’s defensive line.

Nugier played a prominent role in allowing just 11 shots through two matches last week, winning many 1-on-1 battles with opposing attacks.

Not only was her defense clean, but she also was able to be a sparkplug for the WKU offense, starting key breaks to shift the ball to the other side of the pitch.

The Spring, Texas native is now in her fourth season on the Hill, looking to cap off her career with a Conference USA championship trophy.

She and the rest of the Toppers are set to kick off that journey this weekend, playing at Liberty for the first of eight league games.

First touch in Lynchburg, Virginia on Saturday is slated for 10:30 a.m. CT.
