WKU Player of the Week: Hilltopper outfielder Daniel Stewart

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Our latest WKU Player of the Week should come as no shock, it’s Hilltopper baseball’s ‘Mr. Clutch,’ Daniel Stewart!
The Tops were able to win a big home series over the Dallas Baptist Patriots this past weekend, and Stewart displayed the heroics in game one.
In the bottom of the ninth of a tie game, the senior crushed a fastball out of Nick Denes Field for his first career walk off home run and WKU’s first of the season.
Across the whole series, Stewart tallied three hits, three runs and four RBI.
He’s now tied for second on the team with seven homers this year.
After his big moment on Friday night, he didn’t want all of the praise, crediting a teammate of his for starting the late game rally.
“ I couldn’t have done anything that just happened without Reid Howard. I think he should get just as much credit as me,” Stewart said. “He got on base, [Austin Haller] put up one of the best barrels of the game. You know, they caught it, but we kept on hitting barrels, and I got a swing off, and you know, the rest is history. That was cool. That was really cool.”
