WKU Men’s Basketball: Nelson the latest Top to announce transfer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky Men’s Basketball junior forward Marek Nelson has announced he intends to transfer from the program before the start of the 2019-20 season.
Nelson made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
The Plano, Texas, native is the fifth Hilltopper to transfer from the program this offseason, joining the likes of Dalano Banton, Matthew Horton, Jake Ohmer and Moustapha Diagne.
Last season, Nelson only appeared in 18 games after being sidelined with a back injury for nearly two months of the season.
He averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game during his sophomore year, with the highlight of his season coming on the game-winning basket with 19 seconds left in WKU’s win at Arkansas on Dec. 8.
Nelson appeared in 56 games during his two-year spell on the Hill, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest. The junior will be most noticeably missed for the defense and energy he displayed every time he was out on the court.
