BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Tuesday night, the WKU men’s and women’s basketball teams held their third annual unified basketball game in E.A Diddle Arena.

Partnering up with Southern Kentucky Special Olympics, athletes hit the court for a fun night of hoops. The game went down to the wire with a final score of 34-30, but the night was not about winning or losing a game, but instead about spreading joy and making unforgettable memories.

WKU Athletics and the Hilltopper Climb program enjoy putting on this event and the athletes are filled with joy year after year when they get to hit the court with some friends from the community.

“ My favorite part is just seeing how excited they get,” WKU women’s basketball’s Josie Gilvin said. “Just seeing them shoot their shots and then making them, they get so happy, and they get to cheer each other on, and they love when we cheer them on. Just getting to share the love is really fun.”

“It’s real special just being out in the community and to give it back,” WKU men’s basketball’s Jalen Jackson said. “Those kids aren’t as fortunate as us, and just to be able to get out there and play with them is huge for them and it’s also awesome for us.”
