WKU holds annual Chili and Cheese Homecoming Luncheon
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A sea of red and white filled the booths and tables at Montana Grille in Bowling Green on Thursday afternoon.
Western Kentucky University alumni, students, faculty and staff gathered for the 69th annual Homecoming Chili and Cheese Luncheon and Pep Rally.
For $6, guests received a bowl of Wendy’s chili, a grilled cheese sandwich, a drink and dessert.
All the proceeds from the event go towards Junior Achievement.
Big Red, the WKU Marching Band, cheerleaders, football players and WKU football Head Coach Tyson Helton were all in attendance, too, getting Hilltopper fans fired up for their game against Charlotte on Saturday.
WKU President Timothy C. Caboni spoke to the crowd as well, and to him, this yearly event really gets everyone in the homecoming spirit.
“WKU’s homecoming is truly a special week,” said Caboni. “We welcome thousands of alumni back to the Hill. We’ve been doing this for a long time – 69th year of the Chili and Cheese Luncheon is really a special event. It shows our university’s commitment but also our alumni’s commitment to coming back, to showing up, to wearing red and cheering the Tops on this Saturday.”
The Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Friday beginning at 5 p.m.
