WKU Hispanic Arts Showcase celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A couple of Western Kentucky University students and organizations displayed their projects at Monday evening’s “Hispanic Arts Showcase”.

One Peru-native WKU professor encourages her entry level students every year to go beyond grammar and vocabulary… to use the art of craft to honor Hispanic Culture.

Spanish Professor Yertty VanderMolen said, “I like to celebrate my heritage and to transfer this motivation and these emotions to my students. I want them to feel a little part of my culture; to have a little taste of what Hispanic culture is like.”

The Hispanic Heritage month-long celebration runs through October 15th, and the school’s organizations are planning more upcoming events.

Tuesday, one University of Miami professor’s lecture will explore immigration challenges, specifically impacting America’s Queer Latinx Community.

Wednesday, the Hilltoppers will host their classic Loteria! event where you can win some fun prizes.
