WKU footballs finds success over MTSU with yards after catch
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU football handled business over the weekend in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, defeating MTSU 49-21 for its 6th straight win over the Blue Raiders.
In that game, not only did Caden Veltkamp shine for that Hilltopper offense, but his receivers were also putting on a show after catching the QB’s passes.
After Tops fans watched Malachi Corley the past few years demonstrate how important yards after a catch are, hence, his nickname “Yac king,” they were shown flashes of that type of play on Saturday by multiple Tops receivers.
And offensive coordinator Will Friend spoke on how important making short plays become big gains is for the WKU offense.
“You know, there was a handful of guys that were able to extend some plays after the catch, which is a big plus,” Friend said, “Hopefully they can do that again. I mean, we’re going to play a really, really good defense this week, so they’ll be challenged to hopefully get that done again.”
