WKU Football: RB Baker, OL Mixon dismissed from team after report of shots fired on Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Redshirt junior running back Quinton Baker and redshirt sophomore lineman Preston Mixon have been dismissed from the WKU Football team following two reported gunfire incidents on Saturday morning.

According to Bowling Green Police Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward, the police responded to two calls, both of which involved a WKU football player.

The first incident was a shots fired call at 1:17 a.m. at the Columns Apartments at 1140 Kentucky St.

The second incident was also a shots fired call which took place at 2:42 a.m. at 12th and Center St.

Ward did not say which player is accused of being involved with which incident, but added that no arrests have been made.

As of this morning, the BGPD has yet to release a full incident report as it is still investigating the incidents.

A spokesman with the WKU Football program confirmed the players’ dismissal from the team on Monday morning.

“Quinton Baker and Preston Mixon were dismissed from the team as of Saturday,” said Bryan Fyalkowski, associate athletic director for WKU football. “The team is now facing internal discipline.”
