WKU Football: QB Duncan ruled out for several weeks with foot injury

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football Head Coach Tyson Helton announced Monday that starting redshirt-junior quarterback Steven Duncan will undergo surgery to fix a crack in his left foot.

Duncan played the entirety of the Hilltoppers 38-21 loss to Louisville on Saturday at Nissan Stadium, but Helton said he twisted it on a play some time in the third quarter.

After the game, Duncan had x-rays taken of his injured foot, and after consulting with doctors, Helton said that Duncan would need a pin inserted into his foot.

Helton estimates that Duncan will be out for several weeks, but wasn’t able to say if he’ll return to the field this season or not.

In the meantime, Arkansas graduate transfer Ty Storey is likely to take over for Duncan, however Helton did say he plans on making the quarterback position an open competition again as the Tops head into their bye week before hosting UAB on Sept. 28.
