WKU football prepares for Sam Houston
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Hilltopper football team is off to Huntsville, Texas, today in preparation for WKU’s biggest conference matchup yet this season with Sam Houston, taking place tomorrow night at 6 p.m. local time.
The Tops took the 28-23 victory over the Bearkats at home last year during Sam Houston’s first official season as a member of Conference USA, but now WKU will be heading out to its opponent’s territory for only the second time in program history.
The 4-2 Tops and 5-1 Bearkats are two of only four teams in the conference who remain undefeated in league play, and head coach Tyson Helton knows it will not be easy to get a win in Texas.
“They got a good football team, and you know that from last year,” Helton said. “If you look at last year, I think they went, they lost five games that were the last couple of plays of the game. So, you knew they were going to put something together and have a good football team this year, and they’ve done that. I expect nothing less of them and they’re a good football team, so we got to play our best to go win this game.”
