WKU falls to UAB 37-14

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers dropped their second straight Conference USA matchup as they fell to UAB,  37-14.

With the loss, the Hilltoppers drop to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while UAB improves to 4-1 and 2-0 in C-USA games.

Redshirt sophomore Kevaris Thomas helped keep things close in the first half as the Tops drew to within three on a 6-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Simon, which cut the Blazers lead to 17-14.

Tyson Helton’s squad would not score again, though, as UAB racked up 20 unanswered points en route to the 37-14 victory.

The Hilltoppers will look to rebound next Saturday as they host UT-Chattanooga at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT.
