WKU class of 2020 commencement postponed further
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Western Kentucky University is once again re-working a plan to celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2020.
As of now, the plan is to fold in the class of 2020’s commencement with the class of 2021 this May.
The original plan was to have the class of 2020 celebrated on Sept. 18 through the 20, which is parent and family weekend.
University officials say there currently isn’t a format on how this combined commencement will look. According to WKU director of media relations Bob Skipper, it just wasn’t safe to go through with the original plan at this time.
“Traditionally, commencement brings nearly 20,000 people to our campus for the weekend between the commencement ceremonies themselves and the recognition ceremonies. There’s just not a good way that we can handle that size of a crowd on our campus, and keep everybody in our campus community, and in the general Bowling Green community safe,” Skipper said.
This plan is subject to change. To check out any updates to this plan, visit this link.
