WKU baseball and softball teams host annual “Bat out Breast Cancer” event

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.  This evening, the WKU baseball and softball teams hosted the third annual “Bat out breast cancer” event.

The event was designed to bring together student-athletes and the Bowling Green community at large to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Participation in the event was open to students and the greater Bowling Green area, and they paid for the opportunity to hit several soft toss pitches from the WKU baseball and softball teams.

Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting breast cancer patients at Graves Gilbert Clinic in downtown Bowling Green.

For those that couldn’t attend the event but would like to support this initiative, there is a Venmo donation link on the WKU baseball website.

WKU baseball head coach Marc Rardin spoke on what the event meant to himself and the rest of the Hilltoppers.

“Everybody, I think in most cases, in goodwill, wants to do their part,” Rardin said. “Whether it’s for a cause and the people around. And so, for the community, for Western Kentucky, it’s kind of one of those things where it goes hand in hand, where we’re trying to do our part, and we just happen to be wearing Western Kentucky doing it.”
