WKU Athletics Releases Statement on Recent Events

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Saturday evening, Western Kentucky University’s Athletic Department released a statement on the recent nationwide events that have taken place over the past week.
The statement notes that, “…many of our student-athletes, our staff, our fans and others in the campus community and beyond are hurting.”
It closes by stating, “We will listen to each other, stand up for each other, love each other, treat each other the way we want to be treated, and never stop trying to improve ourselves and those around us.”
In addition, WKU Football’s Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, Clayton White, posted a tweet that expressed his feelings on the topic.
White’s statement said in-part, “The Tops (players) are very aware and conscious of real life situations. Why? Because we talk about it. Let’s all make sure when (Tops players) get back to campus, we continue these conversations and follow up with action. A tweet without action is pointless…”
