Winter weather preparedness

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With winter upon us and temperatures set for another drop over the weekend, Casey Archey at Warren County Emergency Management says that now is the best time to go ahead and prepare for the worst.

“Make sure you get your weather radios. You can get those from Walmart, Lowe’s, any of those places. You know, we’d be happy to program those up here. Now’s the time to get your kit ready, get your kit prepared for winter, because it’ll be on us much faster than we can we want it to be,” Archey said.

One of the most important things to have in any household is an emergency radio that can be recharged. This allows you to stay informed about weather events during a power outage.

It is also important to keep cars above a half-tank if not full in case evacuation is necessary and to take all necessary precautions regarding pets. This includes food and water supplies.
