Where to celebrate Dolly Parton’s memory in Kentucky on 9/25

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Are you not working 9 to 5 on Friday? If you’re free, there are multiple ways to celebrate Dolly Parton’s legacy on 9/25 in Kentucky.

BOWLING GREEN

• At Western Kentucky University, students can head to the DSU lobby, where they’re invited from noon to 4 p.m. to join the departments of art and design, English, history, music and the School of Media and Communication to celebrate. Students can “dollify” their denim with fashion studies faculty and students, take photos in a photobooth and participate in giveaways or donate to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
• Fans can also head to the Kentucky Museum, located at 1472 Kentucky St., and pick up a free box of Duncan Hines Dolly Parton cake mix. The museum says it will be giving 100 away starting at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. or while supplies last.
• United Way of Southern Kentucky is hosting “9 to 5 for Little Readers,” an initiative to raise funds for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. To learn more, click here.

LEXINGTON

• The Lexington community is invited to celebrate the life of Dolly Parton by dressing in their best Dolly-inspired sparkle and celebrate how she lived. The free event will include live, local musicians covering Parton’s music, food, drinks and other activities, all at Moondance Amphitheater at 1152 Monarch St., organizers say. Donations will be accepted for her Imagination Library.
