What to know about National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 25

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This Saturday, one simple action can help prevent an opioid addiction.
On Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will allow community members to discard prescription drugs that may be left in their medicine cabinets.
According to a release by the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, the “majority of opioid addictions in America start with prescription pills found in medicine cabinets at home.”
The task force says it will be taking part in this campaign for the 16th year.
Officials say the service will be free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Needles and syringes will not be accepted for disposal, official say.
The four collection sites in Warren County include:
- Bowling Green Police Department at 911 Kentucky St., operated by Drug Task Force and Bowling Green Police
- Kentucky State Police, Post 3 at 3119 Nashville Road in Bowling Green
- Warren County Hazardous Waste Day at 999 Lauren Avery Dr., with prescription drug take back operated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (hours of operation are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.)
- Smiths Grove City Hall at 146 South Main St. in Smiths Grove, with prescription drug take back operated by the Smiths Grove Police Department.
