What is DEI? Bowling Green NAACP president explains more

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For a few years now, Americans have be split on the conversation of DEI or diversity, equity and inclusion, and the role it plays in day to day life.

Many Americans, including prominent politicians and others in positions of power, have been outspoken on DEI, both for and against, however, the definition of DEI can be difficult to determine. For those in support of DEI, they say DEI serves an important role in leveling the playing field for those who have been mistreated in the past and that DEI doesn’t serve just one group but rather everyone.

“It’s been this narrative, this false narrative that has been put out there to make DEI the bad guy. And it’s unfortunate. It is sad because if people really understood what DEI was in his truest form, they would understand that. And it’s a good thing. But it probably helps them out in some way, shape or form that they just don’t realize,” said Bowling Green NAACP President Ryan Dearbone.

Dearbone says that DEI is not and should not be political, rather, it’s been made that way to secure votes instead of helping people.
