Western Kentucky University holds annual Hope on The Hill event
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University held its annual Hope on The Hill event on the Downing Student Union lawn Wednesday afternoon.
Numerous campus and local organizations, including Texas Roadhouse and the Bowling Green Police Department, were there to show students the resources that are available to them.
Along with these organizations, students could enjoy relaxing activities like bracelet-making, coloring and even had a chance to hang out with Big Red for a bit during the event.
The annual event is aimed at helping direct students to numerous helpful resources regarding their mental health.
With finals approaching for students at WKU, the university had these groups out to showcase the mental resources students have on campus while also helping them manage stress.
“I think it’s super important to have an event that encourages students’ mental health and lets them know they’re not alone and they’re not going through the difficult times alone,” said Kirsten Hooks, the assistant director for First Year Programs at WKU. “This event specifically is going to teach them how to kind of manage the stress as it comes and learn how they can grow in their different areas.”
As the semester winds down, it is important to take care of yourself and manage the stress that college can bring. By holding this event, WKU is helping point its students in the right direction if they need help and lets them know they are not alone.
