LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WLE/UGC) – A Kentucky woman has lost her home in last week’s tornadoes, along with many treasured memories, but one of those treasures is back where it belongs.

The Hensley family’s home in Laurel County took a direct hit Friday night during a tornado.

Fortunately, everyone inside made it out safely, and they’re still finding one other reason to be grateful.

Jessica Hensley has been searching through the rubble of he family home, at times, finding something old or something new. But what she didn’t expect was getting back something borrowed, and it made the tragedy a little less blue.

Hensley says someone found her wedding dress.

While the Hensley family was still in shock, Lyndsey Antos was at her parents’ house on the other side of the neighborhood, doing what she could to help out when she saw something white.

Antos says, “My dad was like, ‘is that a wedding dress Lyndsey??’ And I was like, ‘yes it is, and we are going to find its owner.'”

Thanks to a lost and found Facebook group and a commenter with a good eye, she was able to get the dress back home.

On Wednesday, Hensley got to meet the woman who found her wedding keepsake for the first time.

“I figured it was tangled around the tree, ripped,” Hensley said. “I didn’t think it was even possible that it survived it.”

Whether it’s a simple birthday card or something bigger, a memory from one of her best days is making some of her worst a little bit easier.

Hensley said, “When you lose everything, anything means something.”
