WCPS steps up security for new school year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Warren County Public Schools are implementing new strategies to keep students protected for the upcoming school year.
WCPS is always increasing their vestibules. All guests must be buzzed into the building and present a photo ID. The ID is scanned through a system called Raptor, which does a quick background check.
They are continually adding to their school resource officer program through their partnership with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. They have tripled the number throughout the past couple years, now at 12 total officers.
Drills are also practiced on a routine basis at all of the schools within the district.
“Safety has always been our first priority and we are always looking for ways to improve that,” said WCPS COO and Assistant Superintendent Jason Kupchella.
