WCPL Launches 2025 Summer Reading Program: ‘Get Lost in a Good Story’

Warren County Public Library

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Warren County Public Library is excited to invite readers of all ages to participate in the 2025 Summer Reading Program, themed “Get Lost in a Good Story.”

Running from May 19 through Aug. 1, the program offers a fun, educational way to stay engaged with books and community events all summer long.

This annual initiative encourages children, teens and adults to track their reading, attend special programs, and win prizes—all while building literacy and preventing the “summer slide.”

Camping Adventure Party Kickoff Celebration
The community is invited to this year’s Summer Reading Kickoff celebration on Thursday, June 5, which is being held at a new location: Ephram White Park (885 Mount Olivet Road). The kickoff is a Camping Adventure Party and families can expect an exciting morning packed with both indoor and outdoor fun, including:

Winnie the Pooh & Tigger meet and greet

  • Interactive dinosaur experience with Feller Express
  • Science shows by The Science Guys (10:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.)
  • Foam party
  • Petting zoo

Attendees can choose between two registration slots: 9:30–11:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Free registration is available now at warrenpl.org/summer.

Read, Log, and Win
Pick up a reading log at any WCPL location or download one from the library website. Kids can earn themed rewards at four milestones, including a compass, bug noise maker, bandana, safari hat, food coupons, and a book. Teens and adults who complete a bookmark log will receive a WCPL baseball cap and a free book coupon from Capitol Books. Everyone who completes a reading log will be entered into a grand prize drawing of their choice.

THRIVE Family Camps
In partnership with Warren County Parks and Recreation, WCPL will also offer THRIVE Family Camps, which are free, interactive camps designed to promote fun, connection, and creativity for the entire family. Each camp week includes a thematic movie at the Capitol every Tuesday and a family celebration party at SOKY Center every Saturday.

Summer Reading Farmers Market at SOKY Center

Every weekend in June and July, the SOKY Center pavilion (formerly SoKY Marketplace) will come alive on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with food trucks, produce and craft vendors, occasional live music, plus exciting activities and biweekly parties for kids. Visit 636 Center Street this summer to browse, shop, and play!

Free Movies at the Capitol
As part of the summer fun, WCPL will host free movies for kids and adults at the historic Capitol theater all summer long. From animated favorites to classic blockbusters, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. View the full movie lineup at capitolbg.org.
