WATCH: Explore part of the West Kentucky BBQ Belt

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – May is National BBQ Month in the United States, and a new tourism initiative is up and running this year in western Kentucky to celebrate.

It’s called the West Kentucky BBQ Belt and features over 40 restaurants west of Interstate 65 that locals swear by as great joints to grab some pulled pork, smoked brisket and everything in between.

Here in south-central Kentucky, Warren, Simpson and Logan counties are on the map with their own eateries, one of which who we spoke to today on National BBQ Day.

News 40 paid a visit to Logan County staple, Roy’s Bar-B-Que, which came into existence in 1983. Since then, it’s been a place Logan County residents have come to love and frequent over generations.

Speaking to one manager of Roy’s, Kyle Harris, he said he was thrilled when Logan County’s tourism department reached out to restaurant to be part of the belt and that the key to having great barbeque is consistency.

“We haven’t changed much over the past 40 years, people come in here, and they know what they want, and we’re right here to serve them,” he says.
