SPRINGFIELD, Ky. – A Washington County man has been found guilty of charges stemming from a Kentucky State Police Post 15 sexual abuse investigation.

Anthony McDowell, 46, of Springfield, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, authorities say.

The verdict follows a Kentucky State Police investigation initiated on June 13, 2022, led by senior trooper Trevor Sagrecy.

The case was presented to the Washington County Grand Jury in June 2024, resulting in McDowell’s indictment. After a three-day trial, troopers say a jury returned a guilty verdict on May 28, 2025.

McDowell was formally sentenced in Washington County Circuit Court on June 25, 2025.
