Warren RECC prepares for the effects of cold temperatures
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Temperatures and the wind chill are at dangerous levels today.
Which is why Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation will be on standby for any outages.
But they can be left in the dark too because of the cold.
On Monday night, Warren RECC responded to over 400 people throughout Warren and Logan county without power.
There hasn’t been an outage this large since.
But in case another does take place, there are ways to prepare ahead of time.
This way you can ensure you have safe heat and light to use until your power is restored.
Those include checking insulation, weather stripping, and caulking seals to keep heat in.
However, because of the cold temperatures today Warren RECC expects families to jack up their heat.
Unfortunately, households may do this at the same time.
We spoke to the Senior Director of Communications and Public Relations, Kim Phelps.
She says families raising their heat all at once can leave disrupt their TVA system.
Phelps also stresses keeping any generators outside, never inside.
She encourages you to ensure your carbon monoxide detectors are working as well.
