Warren East JROTC receives a gift for community service

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local JROTC unit received an unexpected donation today as a thank you for doing something patriotic for the community.

The cadets have been placing American flags outside homes in Warren County as part of the “Flags for Kids” program sponsored by the Bowling Green Rotary Club. The Rotary Club presented a gun locker to Warren East’s JROTC chapter to show their gratitude.

The flags for kids program is designed to help citizens show their patriotism for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, the Fourth of July, Flag Day, Labor Day and Patriot’s Day.

Retired Lt. Col. Todd Alcott of the United States Air Force said the gun locker would usually require a “lot” of fundraising.

Members of the local Rotary Club were in attendance to help with the presentation of the locker.
