Warren East High School coach recognized for 31 years of service
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – At Warren East High School tonight, the gym floor was officially named Tommy Compton Court.
Coach Tommy Compton was the basketball and baseball coach for 31 years at Warren East, starting in 1970. Since then, he has led or been involved in 12 district championships and 9 regional championships. He was a P.E. and Health teacher as well.
Coach Compton had a great career, including inspiring some rule changes in the state of Kentucky and organizing camps.
Compton touched the lives of many kids and athletes including State Representative Kevin Jackson who gave Compton credit for much of his own career.
Compton was joined by family during the recognition and is thankful to everyone who ever played a part in his time at Warren East.
