Warren County welcomes new K-9, Kilo
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Warren County Sheriff’s Office officially introduced the public Monday to the department’s latest officer that has quite the nose for crime.
K-9 Kilo and his partner Deputy John Thompson have completed their training and are at work serving the community.
Kilo is a German Shephard and Belgian Malinois mix. He graduated from the United States Police Canine Association after he and Thompson finished over 400 hours of training.
Police dogs are taught to apprehend suspects as well as sniff out drugs. It’s been about eight months since Warren County last had a K-9.
“I’m very excited just because I’m a dog lover. So, if I can mix the love of my dogs with the love of law enforcement it’s a win-win situation for me. He will be able to assist other agencies when needed as well as ours in getting narcotics off the street,” Thompson said.
While police dogs don’t have use for a paycheck, they are often rewarded with a game of tug-o-war after a job well done, and they always win.
