Warren County unveils Jesse W. Thornton Lake
WARREN COUNTY KENTUCKY – In Basil Griffin Park, a small crowd gathers to celebrate the dedication of a lake to Jesse W. Thornton.
A county wide movement was sparked back in 1965 for more recreational options in the area and Jesse Thornton was hired as Warren County’s first park director in 1968.
Friends and family gather to honor Thornton and acknowledge his long list of accomplishments for Warren County, with his son as happy as he could be.
Richard Thornton, Jesse’s son was there along with a lot of family to celebrate the legacy that the late Jesse Thornton left, who provided the leadership and started the groundwork needed to take Warren County’s Parks & Rec community to ne heights.
