Warren County students gather for Student Lighthouse Team Leadership Summit 2024
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- More than 200 Warren County Public School students gathered at Green River Educational Cooperative for an empowering event designed to equip middle and elementary school student leaders with essential leadership skills.
The leadership summit provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about vision statements, enhance their vocabulary and gain the tools they need to become better leaders.
Jasmine Hollis, a student ambassador for WCPS, shared her excitement about the summit, emphasizing the importance of learning leadership skills at an early age.
“This summit shows them what we’re doing at the high school level and gives elementary students a glimpse of what’s ahead,” Hollis said. “I wish I could have done this when I was younger, and now I get to show them what they can achieve in the next few years.”
Throughout the summit, high school leaders set the tone by modeling positive leadership qualities for younger students, encouraging them to take what they’ve learned and apply it to their own schools.
Cora Partington, assistant Lighthouse leader, explained how important it is to have a group of people who are ready to help and take initiative.
“We all came here today to learn about leadership, and now we can take what we’ve learned back to our schools,” Partington said. The skills developed at the summit are not only valuable for the students’ current roles but will also have a lasting impact on their future. By fostering a strong foundation of leadership, the Lighthouse Leadership program ensures that students are prepared to positively influence their schools and communities.
