Warren County Stormwater, Warren Water offer Septic to Sewer program

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren County Stormwater and Warren County Water District are launching a sewer to septic program to provide an affordable solution to septic system property owners in the service area.

The septic to sewer program was developed to help eliminate water quality and service problems from failing septic systems by providing an opportunity to replace septic systems with safe, public sanitary sewers.

One benefit of choosing public sewers includes an increase in home value because often homes with sewers are more attractive to buyers than homes on septic systems.

The Water District and Stormwater management have teamed up to offer an interest-free loan up to $4,800 to help with the expense of moving from septic tank use to hooking on to a county sewer system.

Sewer systems also lessen maintenance, providing an odor-free alternative and reliability improvements.

It increases building and landscaping expansion options and it improves the environment.

Nikki Koller, the Assistant Director of Warren County Public Works, said failing septic systems pose a risk to surface water, groundwater and public health.
