Warren County Sheriff’s Office warns of circulating scam call

Scam Alert

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Local authorities are sharing details about a scam impersonating the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, deputies say they received reports that scammers are spoofing the WCSO number. The scam involves the caller stating there is a warrant out for missing a court date or jury duty.

The caller will say they want to settle it with a sum of money.

Authorities say the scammers can be “very mean” and “extremely persistent” in an attempt to keep you on the phone.

The sheriff’s office reminds the public it will not call about a warrant or settle one over the phone or by having someone send a payment.

If you receive a call like this, do not give out your personal information. If you believe you have been scammed or believe you are receiving one of these calls, contact the WCSO at 270-842-1633.
