Warren County Sheriff’s office eyes body cams
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office may be getting body cams in the near future.
Last week Warren Fiscal Court approved changes that the sheriff’s office implemented in their policy manual. The sheriff’s office is adopting policing procedures put into place by the Trump administration that law enforcement agencies have to adopt prior to applying for certain federal grants.
Sheriff Brent Hightower said the agency needs federal funding before they can buy the cameras. While the cameras alone aren’t terribly expensive, there are additional costs for data storage and management.
Hightower said the cameras provide added protection for both the public and his deputies.
