Warren County Sheriff’s Office alerting residents about new phone scam
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new phone scam going around.
According to deputies, a scammer is calling residents claiming to be someone named, Major Brett Richardson, with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
There isn’t anyone at the Sheriff’s Office named Brett Richardson.
The scammer is telling those on the other line that there’s a warrant out for their arrest, and to avoid getting arrested, they must pay him with a prepaid card.
The Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that it will never ask for any sort of payment over the phone.
If you receive a similar call, hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency.
