Warren County Regional Jail begins Charitable Christmas Spectacular program
Something spectacular is happening inside the Warren County Regional Jail.
The jail has started an initiative called the Charitable Christmas Spectacular.
Instead of spending several hundred dollars on a catered meal for jail staff to celebrate the holiday, each shift commander has picked an organization to help this holiday season.
Stephen Harmon, the jailer, has given each shift supervisor $200 in start-up money for the mission. It will now be up to the jail staff to come up with creative ways to raise additional funds.
The organizations that have been chosen for the initiative are: Toys for Tots, Barren River Area Safe Space, St. Jude Hospital, Angel Tree and the Bowling Green VA clinic.
"I’ve had an overwhelming response," said Harmon. "I’m blessed to work with very generous people here at the Warren County Jail. My staff are great. They’ve taken this and have really run with it. We are all really excited to see how big this is."
Harmon tells WNKY that if people in the community are interested in helping out one of the organizations, you can stop by the jail front office and donate.
