Warren County Public Schools hosts signing ceremony for Rank Change program teachers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Seven teachers in the Warren County Public School system officially joined a program with BloomBoard that allows them to further their education while still teaching their students at home.

At Warren Central High School, these teachers officially signed on to the BloomBoard Rank Change program. This program, however, doesn’t just offer a financial bonus to those who sign up.

“Our teachers appreciate opportunities to build capacity, to build tools that help them support students within the classroom, that helps them beyond our walls… For the teachers, they end up being able to have the opportunity to earn a rank change, which also helps them earn money for those that they live with and love,” Shante’ Galloway, the Environmental Social & Recruitment Coordinator for WCPS says.

One teacher found out about this program through some colleagues and the success they had from it.

“It seemed like a great opportunity to further my own education, to be able to get a rank change, be able to achieve more tools and strategies that I can use in the classroom… really, teachers are your biggest learners in the building… because we’re always looking for ways to grow and help our students to grow,” Mark Helit, a 5th grade teacher at Bristow Elementary School says.

Another teacher was inspired by a Spanish teacher at Warren East High School, who is currently part of the program.

“She is a grandmother and toward maybe the end of her career and is really loving the opportunity to kind of grow… a lot of people in a lot of jobs, I feel like, get toward the end of their career, and just kind of coast through… and she was talking at our last meeting about how much she just enjoys the opportunity to grow and be better and not kind of phone it in these last few years,” Emili Terry, current Spanish & yearbook teacher at Greenwood High School says.

Both Mr. Helit & Mrs. Terry explained what signing up for this program is going to mean for their teaching careers.

“That rank change carries throughout the state of Kentucky, the Commonwealth of Kentucky… and so it’s really helping me to see that I have… I’m secure in Warren County Schools,” he says.

“This will give me a little bit of a confidence boost… so that I don’t just coast through my last few years of teaching… but I strive to be a better person every day, and I hope that this gives me an opportunity to provide a better experience for my students,” she says.
