Warren County Public Library unveils new mural at Michael O. Buchanon Park’s tennis facility
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Public Library welcomes the newest addition to its most unique branch.
A mural depicting Bowling Green landmarks like the Capitol and Reservoir Hill’s water tower is now complete at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park.
With this new mural, any elementary school kids who sign up for a library card receive a free copy of the book “Who are Venus & Serena Williams?” to learn more about the tennis stars.
The WCPL is excited to shape the next generation of readers with the help of this mural.
“If we can grab students at that age and give them inspiration, make sure they know how to read, they feel supported, they feel like they can get their bodies moving, that their community is behind them helping to support these things that they should have the freedom and equity and access to do, then it had to happen,” Courtney Stevens, Director of Warren County Public Library says.
She also says she hopes kids look at this mural and see themselves in Serena Williams, hoping this proves they can do anything they set their mind to.
