Warren County Public Library on the move for pop-up libraries
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Warren County Public Library is on the move this summer, as they bring some interactive experiences to local kids.
Several pop-up libraries will appear in various locations over the summer, and they’ll have more than just books. There are all kinds of sports and activities that the kids can participate in as well. The equipment is provided by Warren County Parks and Recreation.
The goal of these pop up libraires is to bring the hands-on experience of the library to local kids who may not otherwise be able to travel to one of the physical locations.
To those like Eric Gilpin of the Warren County Public Library, this is all part of the library mission.
“The mission has changed from what it was 40, 50 years ago. The mission is not just to house books and bring people in to check out a book. It’s reaching out in the community, being part of the community in so many different ways, and this is a good example of that. Teaming up with organizations that their mission is to serve kids in our community, and if we can be a part of that, what more can we ask? We’ve got to join that,” Gilpin said.
A used bookstore called Capitol Books can be found at the Capitol Arts Theater. It’s run by the Warren County Public Library friend group.
