BOWLING GREEN, Ky.— A local author is celebrating the publication of her debut novel, “The Evolution of the Gospelettes,” later this month.

According to a release on Friday, Bowling Green author and Western Kentucky University alum Tammy Oberhausen will be hosted at the Capitol theatre in downtown Bowling Green.

The Warren County Public Library will host “An Evening with Tammy Oberhausen and Silas House” at the Capitol on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.

Her novel tells the story of a family of gospel singers in Kentucky, the release says. The book will be published by Fireside Industries, an imprint of the University Press of Kentucky, in partnership with the Hindman Settlement School, on Nov. 5.

Oberhausen, a Logan County native, will feature her roots to the local area on the cover of her novel with art by award-winning Bowling Green artist David Jones.

The release says Oberhausen spent three decades developing her work as an author and writing her novel.

Kentucky Poet Laureate Silas House serves as editor of Fireside Industries, which “strives to publish creative work by authors with unique perspectives, diverse backgrounds, and compelling voices, who are telling the complex stories of Appalachia and rural America.”

House says, “The Evolution of the Gospelettes” is a “nuanced, funny, and hugely entertaining look at faith, doubt, hypocrisy and holiness” and “a remarkable debut.”
