BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Warren county is a step closer to getting a brand new indoor sports facility.

At Warren County Fiscal Court Friday morning, magistrates voted 5-1 to spend nearly $135,000 on a finalized architectural plan. Magistrate Ron Cummings was the only NO vote.

As it stands now, the 78,000 sq. ft. building would be built at Michael Buchanon Park.

There are two options for the building. The first is to design the building strictly for indoor tennis. The other option to make it a multi-use building for not only indoor tennis, but basketball, soccer, racquetball and more.

If the county decides to go with the multi-use option, the price tag would be around $7.8 million dollars.

Chris Kummer, the director of Warren County Parks and Recreation, told WNKY that he believes the multi-use building is the better option.

In addition to using public dollars to construct the building, various sponsorships will be sold as a way of generating revenue.

The building will have nearly 600 parking spaces.
