Warren County fire coordinator begins new role
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – During a Warren County Fiscal Court meeting in 2024, the court received feedback from a consulting firm on how to better the volunteer fire departments that are spread across Warren County.
One of the first recommendations the firm made was to hire a fire coordinator to create a sense of organization amongst the different departments.
Warren County recently hired its fire coordinator, and he started his work in early January. Bill Rector, the new fire coordinator, comes from southern Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. He has an extensive record of serving his communities and is looking forward to serving the residents of Warren County.
Rector recognizes there is much work to be done and says bringing everyone together is his most important goal in the face of a rapidly changing field.
“The fire service in general is changing fairly rapidly over the past 20 years. And with that, there’s new safety measures, there’s expectations with staffing requirements and things that we’re going to have to navigate. And all of that is going to require everybody to come down to the table with different experiences and personalities and getting everybody on the same page and understanding that we all need to work through this together rather than being in our individual parts. I think it’s going to be the most important thing,” Rector said.
Rector says the work never ends when it comes to the fire fighting field, but he is looking forward to serving and protecting the people and property of Warren County.
