Warren County advertises for contractors to pick up litter
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Warren County Fiscal Court voted to advertise for contractors to pick up litter that has accumulated in the county during the pandemic.
The litter is usually picked up through the Warren County Regional Jail’s Class D Felon Program.
The state halted the jail program in March after the pandemic began due to health and safety concerns for the inmates.
Stanley Reagan, Warren County’s Environmental Coordinator, says that there’s two types of litter – intentional and unintentional litter. Both can result in fines and are damaging to the community.
“One thing that litter tells about your community is how much it cares. And when we have visitors who come in from out of town, they could be tourists, they could be industrial locator prospects, we want to put our best face on the community. And when they come and see that they may just drive on up to the next community,” said Reagan.
Reagan said county officials are hoping to get a contractor and a plan proposal in the next couple of weeks.
