BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren Central Dragons captured the 4th region boys basketball championship in a 55-38 win over the South Warren Spartans.

In a rematch of the 14th district championship, Warren Central defeated its crosstown foe for the 4th consecutive time this season, while claiming the program’s 20th region win in the process.

As fans have seen all season, the Dragons’ defense showed up big time. Warren Central notched six steals and held the Spartans to go just 5-16 from the field in the first half.

Heading into the locker room, the Dragons led 26-13.

Warren Central would then go on an 8-0 run to open the third quarter and never look back from there.

11 steals and 29 rebounds total on the night aided the squad in holding South Warren to scoring in single digits in all but the last quarter.

On the offensive end, Kaleb Prince led the charge with 18 points while the team as a whole shot 44% from the field.

Throughout all three games in the tournament, Warren Central beat opponents by an average of 30.6 points, but the 38 points allowed for the Spartans marked the lowest the Dragons have held an opponent in the 4th region championship in program history.

For South Warren, 2026 marked not only the first 4th region championship appearance for the squad, but also the first time in program history making the tournament. Their historic season ultimately comes to a close with a 19-11 overall record.

As for the Dragons, they will represent the 4th region in the 2026 UK Healthcare Boys Sweet 16 Tournament in Lexington for the fourth time in five years, while looking for their first state title since 2023.

Warren Central will take on North Laurel inside Rupp Arena on Wednesday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m. ET.
