Warren Central High School students job shadow at M&L Electrical

BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Warren Central High School students interested in the field of electrical engineering had an inside look at what the job entails. But it wasn’t done in the classroom. It was done at M&L Electrical.

While there, the students learned more about applications and interviews, the safety gear needed daily, and the core values needed to be a part of the team.

“It’s really cool to get to understand their core values of a company that’s so specific on helping other people and changing their lives,” said Warren Central High School junior Madison Rather.

In addition to a look behind the scenes, the students also had the chance to learn of more in depth details of the job by working with the equipment.

These job shadow days can be conducted because of a partnership between M&L Electrical and Junior Achievement of South-Central Kentucky.

“This is honestly one of my favorite things that we do through Junior Achievement. I love to see the kids’ faces. I love to know that I’m having an impact, and that it’s possible that some of the students may work here in the future,” said education director of Junior Achievement of South-Central Kentucky Abby Phillips.

It’s also a way to bring attention to trade jobs and careers.

“You can make really good money in the trades. You can make 6 figures if you really have that drive and that initiative to work hard and work your way up,” said M&L Electrical communications administrator Krystal Parker.

In addition to keeping their young minds sharp, the goal is to instill the students with core values. Not only for M&L Electrical, but for life as a whole.

“My main thing in finding a job for my future is having a place where you feel respected, and where you can have a family there with everybody, where you know there’s always someone to help you when you need it,” Rather said.
