Warrant scam robs Bowling Green woman of $1,500

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky.-A Bowling Green woman was robbed of $1,500 after a scammer convinced her that she had a warrant out for her arrest.

According to the Scottsville Police Department, an older woman, who lives in Bowling Green, received a call from someone claiming to be with the Scottsville Police Department.

The scammer told her he would accept gift cards rather than money.

Police say the woman then drove all the way to Scottsville with the scammer still on the phone, bought three gift cards worth $500 each and gave the redeeming numbers on the back of each card to the scammer.

Fortunately, police in Scottsville say the woman will receive a refund.

Scottsville police will never call anyone seeking money. If you receive a similar call, hang up and call your local law enforcement agency.
