Wanted Tompkinsville man charged with human trafficking involving minor

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Tompkinsville man wanted in connection with human trafficking charges is now behind bars.

According to a uniform citation, 46-year-old Steven Stewart of Tompkinsville was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including human trafficking involving a minor and and over 30 counts of possession of matter of a sex performance by a minor.

Court records state an active warrant of arrest on indictment was issued for Stewart on Dec. 22.

Overall, Stewart faces charges of human trafficking – commercial sex activity, victim under 18 years of age, 32 counts of possession of matter of a sex performance by a minor, over 12 but under 18 years of age, third-degree sodomy, incest, person less than 18 by a person three or more years older, and third-degree rape.

Stewart remains at the Barren County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.

Court records state he is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 15 at 9 a.m.
